Our daily lives are full of negative relationships between objects and human beings. You must survive, you deserve it. Super Bob is a representative of the Pineal Foundation, based in Shikoku, Japan. He is one of the pioneers of 'Pineality', a treatment that sits on the boundaries of art, science and medicine. Using the power of duality, refraction, reflection, echo-location, analogue frequencies and background interference to isolate your sense of 'I'. Tonight he presents a short introduction...

The first in a series of transformational ambient energy-gestating aural therapy sessions. Based in Kamibun, Shikoku, Japan, Froth FM (AKA Insect FM) will be broadcast LIVE for 6 days. Since the range is extremely short (roughly 50 metres) we felt it was important to archive each broadcast here. This is the first FM broadcast in Kamibun, Kamiyama and it may be an historic moment for the town. Maybe not. Anyway, it's by archiving it we can revisit in a few years and make a new judgement.

30 Minute Story is a story told without words, just sounds. This is supposed to heighten memory recollection and pineal gland transitions. Feelings become externalised without being filtered through the mesh of language creating a more intensive spiritual experience for both listener and speaker alike.

'Relentless references to a humiliated self, radicalising insular information, extreme sentimentality; the otaku experience fits effortlessly into the Japanese lifestyle'. 'Superflat' is a rhetorical album based upon the theories and manifesto of Murakami's art movement. Yawn. The album attempts to combine the culture of otaku with the world of homemade music specifically with an internet based release platform blah blah. The sounds of obsession. You hear something to be obsessed with/about,...

This album starts the series of five best works by Martin Dot. Chosen not chronologically, but intentionally as the first one Metro presents the idea of encapsulating time into repetitive events, like between one arrival of a train and the next one. Such repeated event is a constant. But it's also variable, as there is no possibility of such two identical events. That's what this album tries to show. Constant variability or variable constance. We hope you'll enjoy it as we do. all tracks by...

On this installment of Ode to Gravity, Charles Amirkhanian unearths rare gems from Lou Harrison’s personal record collection. Amirkhanian focuses on percussion music from the late 1930s and early 1940s, broadcasting selections by American composers Harrison, Henry Cowell, Johanna Beyer and William Russell. Many of these recordings were made live at one of John Cage’s famous percussion concerts, in 1939 at the Cornish School in Seattle. The final selection features Leopold Stokowski...

Cosmic Lullabies is the sixth album from the Finnish ambient producer Doc and the Russian pianist Lena Selyanina, cosmic and meditative in its style and spirit. The opening track Bell Meditation is a pure meditation song based on huge bell sounds that resonate and vibrate for extended periods of time. Gradually rising ethereal echoes from sacred eastern choral tradition mix with the bells to form a calm and majestic cosmic setting, perfect for deep relaxation and meditation. The starting point...

Here is a two-tracks EP from the japanese artist Lullatone, already known for his outstanding releases and appearances on Childisc, Audiodregs and Plop records. As on those publications, the artist (Shawn, often assisted by the vocalist Yoshimi Tomida) layers glitch/ambient mellow pulses over a somber minimal layer of electronic shading (a combination of notes, drones, toys), flowing like icy water in a warmy canal. While not maybe as moody or fluid as his up-to-date material, this incredible...

Two attacks at source material largely produced in the late 90s: radio preacher stations competing with more mundane shortwave communications, and some locked tracks from Tchaikovsky. Lola Valérie again invests into the methodics of immediacy and spontaneity - everything in these two pieces was designed visually and by instinct, the only audition of these tracks came in the mastering phase. One Beginning here is a big "fuck you" addressed to carefully composed avantgarde music. I...

A long player from The Onomatopoeic Man. This is a hardcore ambient style piece. Taped as a single continuous sound, oscillating between nasty distortion, melodramatic ambient, melancholic glitches, stupid dancehall, world music grunge, and lucid crap: essentially this is a hyperbolic soundtrack to an anti-drug movement. Divided into 12 tracks for convenience - allows resting in between.

A failed science fact endlessly theoretically functional, propped up by trendy 1950's ideals and styles, destroyed by 1980's dread and collapse. The Radon Sisters found abondoned at the edges of a uranium mine in North Dakota. Found to be conjoined twins, at the hands no less. Their bodies in a perpetual distant embrace. Their bodies hidden away in a dirty earth chamber. Heavy water barrels. They were growing together. Fusing into one another. Their bodies were joining by will alone. Heads...

Transforming pictures into music is the motivation of the Swede Petter Friberg. At the age of 10, during the age of electronic innovators like Jean-Michel Jarre, Brian Eno and Kraftwerk, Petter did experiments using tape recorders. Together with Thomas Krome and friends he built up a studio during the mid 90's, listening to The Orb, F.S.O.L. and Aphex Twin. The efforts resulted in several techno/house 12''s under his 'Superstereo' moniker, but more recently Petter unveiled a new project with...

much of the music we release is the perfect accompaniment to a good night's sleep... this track, however, is a soundtrack to a sleepless night. it's driven by a mildly dissonant theme (not unlike the alien riffs synonymous with AFX's Ambient II) that changes colors like a chameleon. be forewarned that there are a few moments that might be considered jarring, which may be a first among tracks in our collection.

Somewhere in the spectrum between Musique Concrete and Phonography, is a vast gray area that is disowned and disputed by either side. This compilation treats this no-man's land as its playground. Field recordings they are, with some processing, but not just walls of rhythmic noise. Sounds of nature, sounds of the city, using the non-instrumental rhythms and melodies of the source recording as the focal points, coaxing the music and beauty out of unplanned, un-orchestrated events. Machines... More than technology to help us through the day, they also have a sense of personality. If you don't believe this compare in your mind the machines from, say, the 1920s to those from today-- think of your cell phone, then the Goldbergian monstrosity Bell invented. Doesn't this difference mark the character of 2 diffferent eras? This EP by Mystified looks back, sometimes a decade, and sometimes as far as a century, to machines of the past, and the sounds they might make in our minds.

Yes, Nishi has reached its 100th release. To celebrate, we asked some past, present and future artists to submit tracks for a compilation album. The result is almost 3 hours of music spanning dozens of genres, styles and moods (not to mention several continents). Between the sublime washes from Pocka and Ambient Field, the dark glitch-pop of Samarah and John Tennant, and the relentless pounding of Elektro Punc and Sascha Müller, and everything in between, there really should be something for...

"Oneiromancy (the art of foretelling the future through dreams) is an hypnotic ambient journey through the underworld of the unconscious and the dreams which abide therein." --K.M. Krebs Originally a CD-R release, this ambient trek by Canadian sound artist K.M. Krebs is now a netlabel release on Webbed Hand. Distinguished not only by the remarkable sounds herein, but also very evocative track titles, complemented by detail-rich cover art, this is the sort of album one can spend a lot...

052 moves us in direction of germany, and ambience creator martin juhls. 30 minutes of cavelike dub atmospheres and moist reverbation relocates the feeling of empty space, while crisp radiofrequencies forces its way into your consciousness. eminently fascinating material.

Revealing the somber underpinnings of his Loscil recordings, Scott Morgan has given us Stases - A collection of drones based upon the backgrounds of his work for Kranky Records, from 2001 to now. As with his previous output, Stases follows theme and concept with further reference and meaning given through the title's definition: "..a condition of balance among various forces; motionlessness". Textured, aqueous, warm and pleasingly rich in (often bright) tonality giving us a deeper...

In this eclectic work there are different influences coming from different kind of music: electro-dub rhythmic with afro and jazzy atmospheres, all revisited in brokenbeat key.. The e.p. start with "nigerian prayer", a morbid and solar track, but it continues entering into darker and irregular grooves with "honest broken" and "efats groove", a track inspired to african percussionist and songwriter Ephat Mujuru. How much it happens in the tracks "Lady's Afro...

This was a micro album that concentrated on sound produced by a device that I came to think of as a static machine. Terminologically, this may not be spot on as it is does not create static or hold a static charge per se (Christ what a parp). It is basically a device that amplifies, via a speaker, the breaking and reconnection of a simple circuit. Essentially a switch, but I made it in such a way that I could use the 'switch' to create many different sounds. This album is the result. There are...
